Aside from being a prized staple in Asian cuisine and traditional medicine, Maitake mushroom is a functional, nutrient-dense food. Safety: Maitake mushroom is safe for most people, although there have been reports of nausea. Because compounds in the mushroom may reduce blood pressure and blood sugar, check with your physician before using this powder if you take anti-diabetes or high blood pressure medications. Maitake may also increase the blood thinning effects of anticoagulants, such as coumadin (Warfarin).
